How can i get her tested, many doctors have told me she doesnt but I have been approached by therapist that ask me if she does have it. I my self have seen it. she also has severe behavioral problems, and may have tourretts syndrome. What can I do to find out her real diagnostics. besides ADHD, and ODD i know she has something else.

Hello. i will be relocating to the El Paso Tx area this fall. My wife and I are wondering what elementary schools provide the best care and support for children with ADA and PDD. I have tried looking through the web, but have not found any useful websites. Our son is currently 4 and is attending behavioral and speech help.

    1. acnofelp says:

Hello and Welcome to El Paso or almost. Its a hard question to answer. It would depend on which school district you live in ad which program would best fit your child with in that district. Your IEP meeting would determine a program fit. I guess it would depend where you will live with in El Paso. If you live in housing then its El Paso school district. I moved to Socorro in July. You can join our Facebook page and the parents will give you some more incite to schools. You can also call me at the below number.

    HELLO,
I’D LIKE TO CONTACT YOU TO DISCUSS ABOUT MY 2-YEAR OLD SON WHO’S DIAGNOSED WITH HYPOTONIA, GLOBAL DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS, AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISORDER.
I’D LIKE TO KNOW IF TRIWEST CAN PAY FOR YOUR ABA THERAPY. I KNOW THROUGH ECHO PROGRAM, MY SON IS ONLY QUALIFYING FOR BCBA SERVICE. I’D LIKE TO KNOW IF I JUST CHOOSE TO USE ABA THERAPY THROUGH TRIWEST PRIME PLAN.

LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU SOON.
    JENNY

    1. acnofelp says:

Hi Jenny, Its good to hear from you. I’m assuming from your email your son has a 504 and not an IEP since he qualifies for a BCBA. Children with an IEP can get the ABA through the demonstration project and children with a 504 can only get ABA by a BCBA. It will be hard to find a BCBA to provide services although they are out there they may be hard to find. I’m not sure if Prime, Standard or Remote will change the services. I was on Remote for years and we had ABA. The copay should be the same with all of them. I pay 35.00 a month for ABA as a copay but it might be based off of pay grade. You can call me at 731-8866 if you like and i will help you get through it. I just found another ABA provider tonight so it is getting easier to find the services.

Hello, my son was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS, his currently in EPISD but I’ve heard that Socorro and Ysleta District offer better programs.. soo thats got me thinking… where can i get info about that??

    1. acnofelp says:

Hello, There is no clear cut way to find out and compare. You would have to look at where you would live and then the school that services that address. Each school is different since they all don’t have the same programs. Also depending on your child’s IEP and what the needs are would also be a factor. I moved from EPISD to SISD and we have had only good results. I know parents in YISD and they love the school. I also know someone in SEISD and his child is doing great and the district does a great job. With and district and school it boils down to the campus and classroom teacher.

  6. IRENE GARCIA says:

I HAVE A 7 YR OLD GRANDSON AND HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM, HE HAD ATTENDED SISD BEFORE AND ITS TRUE DEPENDS ON THE TEACHER. BUT NOW HE WILL BE ATTENDING YISD AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHICH SCHOOLS HAVE PROGRAMS FOR AUTISM AND WHICH SCHOOL IS BETTER.

    1. acnofelp says:

Hi Irene, Many families and very happy with YISD. I don’t know that there is just one school that is better than another. It would depend on the program needed. If the needed program isn’t offered at the local school the district will transport your grandson to the school that has the program. generally the RAD is done at the local school and if the program isn’t available that the ARD team will find it. If you are on Facebook i would recommend you join our page so the parents can give more insight to the district. YISD has a great special education department and their director makes sure that YISD does their very best for it kids

  8. Marc Pulver says:

I was born in 1958 and was very slow in my development and taken by my parents to a local doctor and was told by the doctor to give it some time they did but still no progress in my development so in 1968 with the little resources that were available Mom found the best doctors at that time in Baltimore Maryland called Johns Hopkins. We went there and I went through a series of tests and it was determined I had brain damage and there was not a whole lot that they were able to do and it was suggested I be institutionalized. Mom went back to the drawing board and found another facility in Philadelphia called The Institute For The Achievement Of Human Potential. They also did a series of tests and were able to implement a program that was suitable to meet my needs. I was there for three years and was given a battery of exercises I would have to do in those three years which was movement of my body, eye exercises and also breathing exercises. The purpose of these exercises was to stimulate the blood more efficiently to my brain.I would also have to go every three months to Philly for an evaluation and each time I improved a little more and at the end of the three year hiatus I was much improved but still had a long way to go. Fast forward to 2007 I was diagnosed again but this time I was diagnosed with autism. A bit of a shock at first but life goes on. soon After I read a book on temple grandin and also saw her documentary and was inspired by what I had learned about temple. I was then kicked started to write my own memoir about my life and experiences that I had. The purpose of my book is to help, inspire and educate others who have gone through what I have and send this message to them. Autism is not a death sentence, it is just a road block so go down another path. do not let autism over take you, over take it. Here is the name of my book. Living Life With Autism The World Through My Eyes. Here is my web page. http://www.marcpulver.com. My book can be purchased at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. Thank you so much for reading my email.

Hola , my husband son (11 years old) is autistic, he is not a US citizen, and has never had any type of therapy , I think maybe cause his mom lived in Juarez and since is to expensive they couldn’d pay it. I wanted to know if you could help me find some kind of therapy , school or something that could help him, the big problem is money .We can’t afford to pay a specialist . Please let me know where he can learn to have a better life. I really appreciate it. Thanks for your help
